Description

“Newbie” refers to a person who is new to a game, community, or activity and is still learning its basic conventions. It is informal gaming and internet vocabulary, usually neutral or mildly teasing rather than inherently insulting. Players often use it to explain inexperienced behaviour without claiming that the person will remain unskilled. The plural “newbies” commonly describes a group of newcomers whose unfamiliarity can make team communication quieter or less coordinated.

Example

— Why did you spend ten minutes trying to open the settings menu with a grenade? — I’m not a newbie; I’m performing hands-on interface research. — The interface would like its grenade back.

A proud newbie spent an entire round crouching beside the exit button, convinced it was rare loot.

Getting 260fps on all epic settings with DLSS (R7 7800X3D/5070ti/32GB @ 6400MT/s) Game is just as fun as HLL. A lot of newbies so comms are little quite right now. They’ll get the hang of it though.
